This project was designed to manage the riparian zone of a significant stretch of the upper Burnett Catchment that was seriously degraded by Cats Claw Creeper. The overall goal of the project was to see a section of Monal Creek populated only by original native species and proved successful.

The Smalls Ck Landcare Group, based out of the Eisvold Shire have been actively participating in natural resource management since its affiliation as a Landcare group in 1999. They are largely recognised for their ‘Riverwalk’ project along the Jackie Smalls Creek and Nogo River systems in an attempt to control the spread of noxious weeds. Their ‘hands-on’ approach has resulted in chemical pest control and weed field days in the local areas.

Various controls for the Pricky pear (also known as Tree Pear) were trialled in the south of the Burnett Catchment to advance understanding of weeds and control methods and the benefits of control. Results were pleasing long after the trial began.

The Water for Profit program is a Rural Water Use Efficiency Initiative (RWUEI) project facilitated by the Queensland Fruit and Vegetable Growers and is aimed at increasing water use efficiency, saving water, saving energy and saving fertiliser, in association with best management practices. This is the story of the Chivers family who have taken advantage of this program.

The Burnett Catchment Care Association Inc (formed in 1994) BCCA is a community run Not for Profit organisation, focused on Natural Resource Management in the Burnett and associated river systems.

The BCCA has four sub-catchment groups (North, South, East and Central) operating under an umbrella management group referred to as the BCCA Committee.
